Mike Crandell - Up and Coming Local Chainsaw Artist

See This Bear at 102 Appaloosa rd. Amarillo, Texas..... I took down the old dead tree and carved a bear out of the remaining stump!
Welcome to my web site!
I am (or at least I HOPE to be) a new local chainsaw artist... I take logs that are dumped at a local chipping site (I DO NOT take away from the environment, as of yet, like other artists do), and using my trusty old Poulan Chainsaw (which I purchased at a local pawnshop for $50.00), turn them into beautiful works of art in the form of nature. I specialize in bears and eagles, but with a little practice, I can cut just about anything my little ol' eyes can see!! Prices vary, according to size, time, quality, detail, and type of wood I am using....

This is a "stump" bear I carved out of a nice piece of redwood I happened to stumble over at the chipping site... almost literally! hehehe....

As I mentioned above, prices vary, according to size, quailty, type of wood, and time spent....

Let me tell you a little about myself, my family and Bear With Me. My name is Mike Crandell I am the owner and founder of Bear With Me. I learned how to carve bears from my uncle and his sons. I have been a Master Grill Operator at a resturant called The Waffle House for thirteen years. I decided one day to take off and go to Colorado where I learned to carve. I liked it so well that I decided to come back to Amarillo Texas and open my own business. I am still cooking but only until the bears can let me retire. I have two children, Jonathan and Jennifer. My son helps out with the bears by cleaning up the area so I don't fall while cutting, he also helps with finishing. My daughter helps by being with me and watching and telling me how well she likes my work. Then there's my fiance Becky, she also works at The Waffle House but is my biggest supporter and help. She helps with the finish work also. And like me can't wait till the bears can let her retire. At this time it is just me carving but I have a friend who is learning to finish and carve. And last but not least there's my Mom, she bought me my first chain saw to get started and is letting me carve in her yard. Thanks MOM. A little about Bear With Me, as you know it is a chain saw carving business. I carve bears, eagles and just about anything I can see in my head. I get my wood from a local chipping site for now. When the business takes off I will have the wood shipped to me. After I carve the bears they go through a process of grinding, polying, and painting. They are now ready for sale. And if you are in the local area and want a bear you can go by Family Choice Rentals in the Grand Plaza and take a look or purchase your own bear. If you are looking for a gift for that person who has everything, why not a BEAR?
